I often get asked where we purchase our books as we have developed a collection over the years and long before Lina was born. & Yes we certainly don’t pay full price for them (unless newly released). Some of you may have heard of Thriftbooks and some of you may have not as to why I want to share this great resource.
ThriftBooks is a great site to get books that have been around for quite some time instead of buying from Amazon or most online retailers.
Here’s what I love about Thriftbooks:
• It works much like Amazon's search engine, making it easy to find any book by title, author or both.
• Once the book comes up, the price varies by a few cents or dollars depending if you want paper, hardcopy, or library binding. If you are a fan of children’s books as I am, you’ll find getting copies of old library books fun! We have purchased so many library book copies of books for Lina from authors she enjoys at really inexpensive prices. Hard cover books are hard to come by for a decent price in general and are especially expensive for classics. It also gets her used to the idea of learning how to care for these books before we begin checking books out from our local library.
• Books prices for children’s books range anywhere from $5-8 each in most cases and are even less expensive for paperback books.
• Old hardcover books are inexpensive and often close to the same price as paperback.
• You earn points towards free books with every purchase. Yes! We’ve received so many!
• They have a great selection of books (not just children’s books).
• You can get notifications via email when they have a copy of a book back in stock you are looking for.

• Most orders are shipped FREE depending on where in the US the book is being shipped from and your mailing address.
• It is a great site to price check alongside Amazon.
• Books are listed by: New, Like New, Good, and Acceptable (We stay in the Like New to Good range and just a side tip - Good book listings have been a good experience for the most part. We have received 1-2 that should have been listed as acceptable.)
• Collector’s (signed by authors) copies are available for purchase .
• You can download their app here.
Now for newer children’s books that have been just released, I still purchase on Amazon for the better rates and prime shipping but, if you happened to be looking for old books (2+ years old) Thriftbooks is a good place to look.
Have you purchased from Thriftbooks? I’d love to hear your experience with them.
