Hello September! Fall is near! We have a good selection of seasonal books we rotate throughout the year for our little one. These are books we put away and bring out as a new season arrives.
One sweet thing we love about this, is we get to experience our little one's joy in which books are brought out. She is now two and these were the books we read several times in one sitting throughout the season!
One of Maria Montessori's principles you may have often heard or mentioned is, "Follow the Child." Although some of these books would not be considered Montessori aligned (due to having fictional characters), we included them as they are some of our little one's favorites and ones your child (ren) may truly enjoy too!
1. Duck & Goose Find A Pumpkin by Tad Hills: Our daughter loves this series of books by Tad Hills. This one was read 5x’s in a row the other day. 😊 It is a playful book of Duck and Goose in search of their own pumpkin. It is also by far one of our little one's favorite books to read each Fall - if not her number one pick!
2. Apples and Pumpkins by Anne Rockwell: A must have book about the enjoyment in Fall activities. Now here is one we often repeatedly read in one sitting too! There is not one time I cannot remember her saying, "Read again Mama!"
3. In the Middle of Fall by Kevin Henkes: A beautiful and poetic book about the changing Fall season.
4. You’re My Little Pumpkin Pie by Natalie Marshall: An adorable Fall love letter from any caregiver to their little one. This is one book we purchased for our daughter when she was almost a year old. It is one that has a remained a favorite through the years.
5. Little Acorn by Melanie Joyce: The story of an acorn and its journey to become an acorn tree.
6. Leaves by David Ezra Stein: A playful story of a sweet bear, Fall leaves, and the changing of seasons. When my daughter was one, this didn't seem like it was one of her favorites. When she turned two and we brought it back out the following year, was when I realized I stood corrected! This book is adorable and a must have on Fall bookshelves.
7. Peppa Goes Apple Picking by Meredith Rusu: Our daughter absolutely loves Peppa Pig books! And a side note, if your little one does too, this collection of stories is a must have in addition to this one.
Peppa Goes Apple Picking shares all the feels in the joys of apple picking and baking an apple-pie after with family. This is one book we enjoy reading with our little one in preparation of taking her apple picking too.
8. Llama Llama Gives Thanks by Anna Dewdney: Much like Peppa Pig, these series of books are always a hit too! It provides good, relatable examples for toddlers on how to be thankful.
Happen to be looking for a collection of Llama Llama stories? This is one from our library is one our family reads continuously throughout the year!
9. Got a Daniel Tiger fan on your hands? Here is one to add to your little one's collection:
10. Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch by Alyssa Satin Capucilli: Our daughter also loves this series of books as to why we have included it. These are stories I enjoyed as a child too and if your looking for books that will be passed on for generations to come, you may want to look into these too.
From our library to yours, we hope your little ones enjoy these books! Happy Fall!
